Tell us about your experience as an online learner within the Seed Technology and Business program.
The online program has allowed me to continue working and gives me the flexibility to work on the classes when time allows, or work ahead if I need too.

Why did you choose to pursue ISU’s Masters in Seed Technology and Business?
I’ve been involved in different aspects of the seed industry over the years and I wanted to enhance my knowledge of the business by furthering my education.  I’m an agronomist and also worked in management so the Seed technology and Business program fit right into my career goals.

What advice do you have for future online students thinking about applying to the program?
This program definitely is helpful in enhancing your knowledge of commercial production practices and broadens anyone’s understanding of plant physiology, seed storage, seed production and business aspects involving plot data and management.

What have you enjoyed most about the faculty you work with within this program?
All of the faculty has been very helpful if I’ve had any questions.  The professors have a definite interest in the courses they are teaching and want everyone to understand the material.

Why was online learning the right choice for you?
My work and family life keep me quite busy, so, having the ability to work early in the mornings or late in the evenings was the only way I would be able to make obtaining a masters degree possible.

What are your future plans after finishing your master’s degree?
After finishing my masters degree I plan on continuing my role at Farmers Cooperative Company as the Precision Ag Director.  My responsibilities involve teaching and training our sales staff and this program will only enhance my ability to provide our team with training that brings them value.  I also want to use my enhanced knowledge to evaluate precision and agronomy products that bring value to the American farmer.  I currently hold a Certified Crop Advisor certification and would like to obtain my Certified Professional Agronomist certification as well.  My career goal is to make a lasting impact on agriculture in the Midwest and bring valuable thoughts and ideas wherever I am.
