Students will be required to meet the following requirements
for admission to the program:
Potential students for the degree program are expected to have diverse backgrounds. Generally, students who have completed a 4-year degree from a college of agriculture, business or a seed-related area in biology will have the necessary course work to be successful. You should be an individual who has a passion for managing and leading organizations that will make improvements in the world's rapidly changing seed sector. This degree program is aimed at professionals working in industry and government. Meeting the requirements mentioned above does not guarantee admission. You will go through the standard Iowa State University admission process. If you do not currently meet the requirements, please contact us for advice on how you can prepare yourself for the program.
Residence in Iowa or the United State is not a requirement for admission. International students will be considered individually, based upon consideration of the communication challenges that are associated with the student's situation. For students whose native language is not English, a minimum score of 83 on the TOEFL exam (Internet-based) is required for admission. An English placement exam is required in the first semester unless you achieve 105 or more on the TOEFL exam.
All new admits to the online STB program must fill out an online graduate application ($60 for United States students and $100 for international students). You will need to fill out the online application and have all materials (with the exception of the essay and resume) submitted online. Directions for this are below.
Documents may be uploaded at the same time that you submit your online application, or at a later date if necessary. We can now accept a scanned copy of official academic records and degree statements issued by any institution where you earned (or will earn) a bachelor’s, and any institution attended after that (e.g., graduate work, etc.) for the admissions process. If you do not have an official copy of your transcripts you can still request them from the university/college and have them directly mailed to Iowa State University Graduate Admissions. If you are given an official offer of admission from Iowa State University to the program, you will then need to make sure an official copy is still sent directly to ISU admissions. They will accept scanned versions of official transcripts for the application process only.
